My bicycle trip through Norway, summer 1996.

Days: (My trip bike)
  1. I started from Bergen, cycled to Halhjem and took the first and best boat I saw. It was the wrong boat ha ha, I was planning to go to Stord and ended up at Tysnes :-) So I had to cycle through Tysnes and to Hodanes. Took then the boat to Stord. Cycled to Leirvik and then the boat to Valevåg.
  2. Cycled through Haugesund and to Skudeneshavn, and then took the boat to Stavanger.
  3. It had rained a lot the first days, so I took a day off in Stavanger. Walked around in Stavanger and visited the Navy camp, Madla.
  4. Took the boat to Tau, and cycled up to the DNT hut Preikestolen. Hiked (1h 5 min) then up to the great Preikestolen (a 600m drop).
  5. Cycled to Oanes and took the boat into to the Lysefjord, and to Lysebotn. A VERY nice boat trip. Cycled then up the great curves to Øgarstølen to 600m or so. Veeery nice uphill curves, but watch out for the black tunnel (about 1km or so).
  6. Hiked (1h 10min) out to the great Kjeragbolt (a 1000m drop), back again and then cycled in heavy headwind to the Åderam DNT hut.
  7. Cycled over the mountain pass to Valle in veeery heavy headwind and much rain. I was veeeeery tired that day :-) Had some problem with my pedal too.
  8. Cycled to Åmot, some steep hills that day too.
  9. Cycled then up some more hills and down to Rukjan, nice downhills.
  10. I was getting tired so I took a day off, and took the mountain funicular to the top, the other side of Rukjan. A very great view to Gaustatoppen (Gausta Peak 1883m) there.
  11. Then I cycled up all the curves, visited Gaustablikk hotel, and cycled further up to where the hike to Gaustatoppen starts (on 900m).
  12. Hiked (1h 10min) up to Gaustatoppen (1883m), very great view up there. Hiked down again and and cycled up to Flistjønnskaret and then down to Notodden and over to Kongsberg. A veery nice day, but a looong one.
  13. The last day I cycled in to Oslo, about 120 km. The longest day on my bike.
I cycled about 700 km on this trip. The weather could be better, much headwind and some rain, but I took several nice pictures of Preikestolen, the Kjeragbolt and Gaustatoppen. Check my pages. More information on my trip (huts, camps, distances, road quality, pictures, prices etc. ) are comming up in a web page. (some day... :-)
